Vattenfall to invest in world’s largest offshore wind project

Vattenfall has decided to invest in the 1,500 MW Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm, which is expected to be the largest offshore wind project when commissioned in 2023. The wind farm will consist of 140 turbines of 11 MW each. Vattenfall was awarded permits for the construction of the wind farm after winning two subsidy-free tender rounds in 2018 and 2019. The two projects have been combined into one wind farm to optimise the process. Vattenfall has partnered with Siemens Gamesa for turbine manufacturing and partial installation, the Netherlands-based Sif Group for foundation manufacturing and TKF for inter-array cable systems manufacturing, Prysmian for inter-array cable systems manufacturing, Subsea 7 for foundation and inter-array cable system installation, and Swire Blue Ocean for turbine installation.
