WBSEDCL plans to set up 125 MW solar projects

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) has issued an expression of interest (EOI) seeking participation of EPC contractors. The interested contractors can bid through e-tendering for engineering, procurement and construction of turnkey solar power plant. This is a part of the 125 MW phase-1 of solar park project in Mouzas Dadanpatrabar, Mania and Dakshin Purusottampur in PurbaMedinipur, West Bengal. This project is expected to receive funding from the government of West Bengal, along with German Bilateral Finance corporation. The last date for bid submission is June 30, 2020.

The scope of work for the selected bidders in addition to the EPC work, will also include operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plant for three years. As per the document, in order to be eligible, the contractor should have adequate professional knowledge and long-term experience in constructing similar solar power plants in the past. Further eligibility criteria include construction experience in earthquake-endangered regions and at sites with extreme climatic conditions. The contractor must hold the qualifications of Quality Management Certificate ISO 9001, Environmental Management Certificate (ISO)14001:2014 and Health and Safety Certificate OHSAS 18001.

West Bengal has been taking measures in setting up solar projects in the state. In January 2020, WBSEDCL floated a tender for 10 MW of solar projects to be located at Chuasole and Kasturia Mouza in the Jhargram district of West Bengal.
