Acciona to build 1,026 MW wind farm in Queensland

Acciona is set to build a wind farm in Australia, the MacIntyre complex in Queensland, with a total capacity of 1,026 MW. The project will boost the Queensland government’s decarbonisation strategy, mobilising total investments of Euro 1 billion. The bulk of the investment will take place between 2022 and 2023. CleanCo, the Queensland government’s new renewable energy generator, will become the independent owner and operator of a 100 MW wind farm within the MacIntyre complex. In addition, CleanCo will acquire an annual production of 400 MW from Acciona’s facilities for 10 years through a power purchase agreement (PPA). The project is scheduled to begin construction in mid-2021, with a gradual start-up in phases. The entire MacIntyre complex is scheduled to be fully operational in 2024.
