The Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has launched two new Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC) monocrystalline bifacial solar modules, the Duomax V and the Tallmax V. The Duomax V has a glass-glass structure and the Tallmax V features a glass-backsheet frame. Each has a reported power output of 500 W and a conversion efficiency of 21 per cent. The modules include “large-format” 210 mm silicon wafers and the manufacturer’s multi-busbar technology. The modules have been created with an innovative cell design combining advanced third-party devices, a non-destructive cutting process and high packing density. This further reduces resistance losses, cracks and hotspots and at the same time maximises module efficiency. The Duomax V, in particular, can reduce balance of system costs for large-scale PV projects by 6-8 per cent and the levellised cost of electricity generated by such facilities by 3-4 per cent, according to the company.
