North Macedonia launches 100 MW solar tender

State-owned electric company Elektranina Severna Makedonija (ESM) has floated a 100 MW solar tender to be developed at its former Oslomej coal power plant near Kicevo, in the west of the country. The utility is seeking potential partners for the construction of the two 50 MW solar parks under public-private partnership. The two solar parks are in addition to a 10 MW solar project planned at the same location. The construction of the project, tendered by the government in April 2019, was assigned to Turkish contractor Girishim Electric. The plan to replace the former 125 MW coal plant with a solar plant was announced by ESM in September 2019. Interested developers can submit bids by May 8, 2020.
