MNRE indicates setting up 50 GW of large renewable parks in Gujarat and Rajasthan

The MNRE has issued a notification to set up 50 GW of ultra-mega renewable energy parks in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The ultra-mega parks with a capacity of 25 GW each will be located at Khavada in Gujarat and Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan. The land will be made available to the developers for setting up of solar, wind, and solar wind hybrid projects at these locations. These ultra-mega parks have received the necessary clearances of the respective state governments and the Ministry of Defence.

In February 2020, the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited has issued a request for selection for the purchase of power from 500 MW of grid-connected solar projects (Phase VIII). The maximum tariff payable to the selected bidder has been set at Rs 2.65 per kWh. The power purchase agreement will be for 25 years. The successful bidder is expected to set up the solar project including the transmission network up to the delivery point. The projects will be technology agnostic. The interested bidders are expected to pay an earnest money deposit of Rs 400,000. The last date for the submission of bids is March 7, 2020.
