Tata Power-Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has issued a request for proposal for procuring up to 150 MW of renewable (non-solar) power on a short-term basis for meeting its renewable purchase obligation. The tender, however, adds that TPDDL can further increase the requirement by 20 per cent if there is a shortfall in the procurement. According to the tender guidelines, the earnest money deposit is Rs 30,000 per MW per month. The last date for the submission of bids is February 21, 2020.
In October 2019, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) had imposed penalties of Rs 17.2 million on Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and Rs 28.8 million each on BSES Yamuna Power Limited and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited. This was in response to a petition filed by the Green Energy Association and the Indian Wind Power Association against the distribution companies for defaulting on renewable energy purchase obligations for FY 2012-13 to 2014-15.
