Marubeni, Total and Siraj Energy to develop 800 MW of solar projects in Qatar

A special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by Japan’s Marubeni Corporation, France-based Total Solar International and Siraj Energy of Qatar has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation to develop 800 MW of solar projects. The SPV has an equity holding of 20.4 per cent by Marubeni Corporation, 19.6 per cent by Total, and 60 per cent by Siraj Energy. With an estimated cost of $462.5 million, the solar power projects will be constructed at Al-Kharsaah, west of Doha. The SPV will develop, construct, and operate and maintain the solar PV projects.
