Maldives to develop 21 MW of solar projects across six islands

Maldives has issued a tender to invite bids to participate in the pre-qualification process for installing 21 MW of grid-tied solar systems on six major islands. These islands are Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Thinadhooo, Evdhafushi and Hinnavaru. The tender has been rolled out with financial and technical support from the World Bank’s Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration and Sustainable Energy (ARISE) project. Phase I of the tender will constitute the installation of a 10 MW floating solar system in Addu city while Phase II will involve the setting up of 11 MW of ground mounted solar projects across Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Thinadhooo, Evdhafushi and Hinnavaru. The last date for the submission of bids is March 12, 2020.
