The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has invited expressions of interest seeking consultants to define a tender process for two large-scale solar power and storage projects in Haiti. The two plants will have installed capacities of 8 MW and 4 MW. The solar-plus-storage plants, to be built at the Caracol Industrial Park in the northeast of Haiti, have been planned by the Haitian government with backing from the USAID. Both plants will have a single, independent operator and sell power under a power purchase agreement signed with a new management company. No technical specifications were released regarding the storage aspect of the solar plants, with the tender document stating that the plant would be only used to manage short-term power fluctuations.
