NHPC Limited extended the bid submission deadline for 2 GW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic projects to be set up across India from September 27, 2019 to October 17, 2019. The projects are to be connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) and the modules under this tender can be imported from any country. The minimum tariff of Rs 2.95 per kWh has been set for these solar projects. The interested bidders can bid for projects that will be set up at multiple locations as long as each project has a minimum capacity of 50 MW and is in multiples of 10 MW after that. According to the tender, NHPC Limited will sign power purchase agreements for 25 years with the successful bidders. The projects are to be set up on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis.
NHPC Limited invited the bids for these solar projects in September 2019. The successful bidders were mandated to adhere to capacity utilisation factors of at least 19 per cent. Moreover, NHPC Limited allowed a commissioning timeline of 18 months from the date of signing the power purchase agreement and the earnest money deposit for this tender was set at Rs 1 million per MW.
