Haryana floats tender for 57 MW of solar projects

Haryana Power Generation Company Limited (HPGCL) has floated a tender for three grid-connected solar photovoltaic projects of a total capacity of 57 MW. The projects are to be developed at various power generation stations of HPGCL. The scope of work under this tender includes the design, supply, procurement, engineering, construction, and commissioning of the projects. The projects will be developed on a build, operate, and transfer basis.

In March 2019, the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) amended its guidelines for MW-scale ground-mounted and rooftop solar projects meant for captive consumption or third party sale.

According to the guidelines, wheeling charges, cross-subsidy charges, transmission and distribution charges, and additional surcharges were completely waived for third-party sale or open access consumers of energy from ground-mounted or rooftop solar PV projects commissioned during the control period.

Many private companies have shown interest to develop projects in the state after this amendment. In July 2019, Cleanmax Solar decided to set up a 150 MW solar project in Haryana. The solar project was to be developed in Sirsa district on a stretch of 600 acres of land at an investment of about Rs 6 billion. Amplus too planned to set up a 150 MW solar project in the state.
