NHPC Limited issues tender for 2,000 MW of solar projects

NHPC Limited has invited bids for inter-state transmission system (ISTS)–connected solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 2,000 MW. The bidders can bid for a minimum project size of 50 MW and in multiples of 10 MW thereafter. The tariff ceiling has been set at Rs 2.95 per kWh. Successful bidders are mandated to adhere to capacity utilisation factors of at least 19 per cent. The projects are to be set up on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The projects can be set up anywhere in India. NHPC Limited will enter into a power purchase agreement with the successful bidders for a period of 25 years.

According to tender guidelines, the successful developers are mandated to meet a capacity utilisation factor of at least 19 per cent. Moreover, NHPC Limited has allowed a commissioning timeline of 18 months from the date of signing the power purchase agreement and the earnest money deposit for this tender has been set at Rs 1 million per MW. The bid submission deadline for this tender is September 27, 2019.

Earlier in April 2019, NHPC Limited had issued an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for developing 40 MW of grid-connected solar power project at Ladeihil village in Ganjam district of Odisha.

The scope of work for the 40 MW solar power project includes the design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, testing, insurance, supply, installation and commissioning. The comprehensive operations and maintenance of the project for a period of ten years is also part of the scope.

The bid submission deadline of the 40 MW tender, however, keeps on getting extended.
