World’s largest single-site solar project commissioned at Sweihan, Abu Dhabi

Noor Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest single-site solar power project located at Sweihan, with an installed capacity of 1,177 MW, has been commissioned. The project is a joint venture (JV) between the Abu Dhabi government and a consortium comprising Japan’s Marubeni Corporation and China’s Jinko Solar Holding. The JV has an equity holding of 20 per cent by Marubeni Corporation, Japan, another 20 per cent by China’s Jinko Solar, with the state-owned Abu Dhabi Power Corporation holding the controlling equity of 60 per cent. The power generated from the Sweihan project will be sold to the Emirates Water and Electricity Company through a power purchase agreement for 25 years.
