Germany-based wind energy company wpd, in partnership with a local developer, has secured a project pipeline of five onshore wind projects with a total capacity of over 160 MW in South Korea. While wpd has technical expertise, industry networks and financing capacity, it can leverage the local developer’s relationships with stakeholders and government bodies to develop the projects. Wind measurement campaigns for the projects have already been initiated, with commissioning expected from 2021 onwards. wpd incorporated wpd Korea Limited, Seoul, in November 2018 to develop onshore, offshore wind and solar PV projects. In the Korean market, the company focuses on cooperation with local developers as well as its own greenfield development activities.
