Portugal plans to allocate over 2 GW of solar projects

The Portuguese government plans to allocate over 2 GW of PV capacity through two procurement exercises to be held in June 2019 and January 2020. According to sources, the Portuguese government will allocate 1.4 GW of solar power in the first auction and 700 MW in the second auction. In the first auction, 750 MW will be assigned for projects in central-northern Portugal’s Centro region, 340 MW in the Lisboa e Vale do Tejo region, while the remaining in the sunnier regions farther to the south, such as Alentejo (235 MW) and Algarve (30 MW). The June auction is expected to attract an investment of about Euro 1.12 billion.
