NTPC, Sukhbir Agro win bids for 72 MW grid-connected solar power projects in Uttar Pradesh

NTPC Limited and Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited won the bids for development of 72 MW of solar projects under the 500 MW grid-connected solar PV power projects to be developed in Uttar Pradesh.

NTPC Limited has won the bids to develop 20 MW capacity each at Auraiya and Rihand by quoting the lowest tariff of Rs 3.02/kWh. Sukhbir Agro Energy had bid for 50 MW capacity at a tariff of Rs 3.05/kW, however, has been allocated only 32 MW capacity.

The bids for the tender were invited by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) in January 2019.

The project involves development of 500 MW of solar power plants in the state of Uttar Pradesh on build, own and operate (BOO) basis. UPNEDA invited bids on behalf of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). UPPCL will sign the power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidder for a period of 25 years.
