China’s National Development and Reform Commission releases new FiTs for solar projects

China’s National Development and Reform Commission has released the “Improving Issues Related to Feed-in Tariffs for Solar Photovoltaic” notice, the first document that confirms the feed-in tariff (FiT) levels for solar projects. The FiTs for new centralised ground-mounted projects in resource zones I, II and III have been fixed at $0.059, $0.067 and $0.082 per kWh, respectively. The FiT level for poverty alleviation projects in resource zones I, II and III remains unchanged at $0.097, $0.11 and $0.128 per kWh, respectively. For commercial and industrial distributed projects designed for “self-consumption and the sale of excess power to the grid” the FiT stands at $0.015 per kWh. The new rates will be effective from July 1, and will help revive the demand for solar equipment in China.
