Six companies submit bids for 750 MW grid-connected solar PV projects in Rajasthan

A total of six companies have submitted bids for development of the 750 MW Rajasthan grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects (Tranche II). These include Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited (250 MW), ReNew Power (140 MW), NTPC Limited (160 MW), Azure Power Global Limited (100 MW), Mahindra Susten (200 MW) and Hero Future Energies (250 MW).

With this, the tender issued by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) on March 22, 2019 has been oversubscribed with an aggregate capacity of 350 MW.

According to tender guidelines, SECI will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders selected for a period of 25 years and the power procured from the projects will be sold to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

The solar power developers must bid for a minimum capacity of 10 MW. The project capacity will be developed in multiples of 10 MW. Also, the plants must achieve financial closure within 12 months from the effective date of the PPA.

The project involves development of solar power plants with an aggregate capacity of 750 MW in the state of Rajasthan on build, own and operate (BOO) basis. The plant should be designed for interconnection with the nearest substation of state transmission utility at the voltage level of 33 kV or above.
