Tigo releases supplemental rapid shutdown tool for solar PV installers

Tigo has announced its new Rapid Shutdown System (RSS) Signal Detector to accompany its RSS Transmitter. The RSS Signal Detector is a testing device for sensing the power line communication (PLC) signal, which is generated by Tigo’s RSS Transmitter. The RSS Signal Detector is used during installation to verify that Tigo’s fire safety units are receiving the rapid shutdown signal from the RSS Transmitter. It is a hand-held tool that solar photovoltaic (PV) installers can use to test the system or identify the source of a problem with systems that do not function properly. The fire safety units, RSS Transmitter and RSS Signal Detector are all part of Tigo’s cost-effective rapid shutdown system architecture. The RSS Transmitter Kits are available as single core, dual core and Commercial dual core for any solar PV system size. Tigo designed the RSS Transmission Kits after launching the fire safety solution, so that installers can save time and money by detecting the signal for a rapid shutdown.
