Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has extended the Request for Selection bid due date for three packages (Packages A-C) of the 7,500 MW Leh and Kargil solar project (Phase I) in the state of Jammu and Kashmir from April 30, 2019 to May 31, 2019. The bids were invited in December 2018. The packages are as follows:
- Package A: It comprises a single project of 2,500 MW capacity to be set up in Kargil district.
- Package B: It consists of a single project of 2,500 MW capacity to be set up in Block-1 in Leh district.
- Package C: It consists of a single project of 2,500 MW capacity to be set up in Block-2 in Leh district.
SECI will be the implementing agency of these projects and will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidder for a period of 35 years from the scheduled commissioning date. The solar power developer must bid for a minimum capacity of 2,500 MW and a maximum capacity of 5,000 MW. Also, the developers must achieve financial closure within 24 months from the effective date of the PPA.
The project is being implemented as Phase I of the scheme for development of a total of 23 GW grid-connected ultra mega solar PV projects in the Leh and Ladakh regions of Jammu and Kashmir on build, own and operate basis. It also includes implementation of the power transmission and evacuation infrastructure up to the delivery point.
