Mumbai-based solar photovoltaic (PV) panel manufacturer and engineering, procurement and construction contractor Waaree Energies has launched solar modules designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). These solar modules can support the energy requirements of auxiliary services like cooling in EVs and increase efficiency by 10-25 per cent. The modules are indigenously designed to be portable, flexible, lighter and durable, making them ideal for EVs. Built at the company’s Surat manufacturing facility, these solar modules can be installed on the body of EVs. With India planning a massive uptake of EVs in the near future, these customised solar modules can help reduce the frequency of charging EVs. The modules are expected to reduce the cost of operating EVs. Waaree aims to make “charging on the move” the new disruption in the transportation industry.
