NIWE re-invites bids for conducting geotechnical investigation for 1,000 MW offshore wind farms

The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has re-invited bids for conducting offshore geotechnical investigation at Gulf of Khambhat, off the coast of Gujarat for development of the 1,000 MW of offshore wind projects. The last date for submission of bids is April 20, 2019.

The scope of work includes carrying out offshore geo-technical investigation work at around the existing three Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) locations and additional two LiDAR locations that are proposed at Gulf of Khambhat.

The Government of India had notified the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy in October 2015 to realise the full potential of offshore wind power in the country. As per the policy, The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will be the nodal ministry and NIWE will be the nodal agency for the development of offshore wind energy in the country.
