Centre approves 14 MW solar PV project in Jammu & Kashmir

As part of the Prime Minister Development Package, 2015, the central government has approved the development of a 14 MW solar PV power project with 42 MW battery storage, in Leh and Kargil, Jammu & Kashmir. The projects of 7 MW capacity with battery storage of 21 MWh each will be set up in Leh and Kargil on a BOO basis. The estimated total central financial assistance is about Rs 1.87 billion, which includes a VGF amount of Rs 1.82 billion and SECI’s PMC charges of 3 per cent of the total VGF disbursed. The upper VGF limit is Rs 130 million for a 1 MW solar project with battery storage of 3 MWh. The projects have to be commissioned within 18 months from the award of order.
