The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has approved signing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 49.8 MW of bagasse-based cogeneration power projects. Earlier, the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) had petitioned to the HERC requesting the approval and signing of the PPAs with Hind Samachar Limited for a 15 MW plant to be set up in Kurukshetra, with Sri Jyoti Renewable Energy Private Limited for a 9.9 MW plant to be set up in Jind, with Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited for a 15 MW plant to be developed at Kaithal and with Srinivas Snapla for a 9.9 MW plant to be set up in Fatehabad. While examining the petition, HERC observed that the Request for Procurement (RfP) was issued by the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HREDA) according to the bid documents approved by the HERC and then successful bidders were selected after due deliberations at the meeting of the high powered committee. After reviewing the petition, the commission reduced the bank guarantee proposed by HPPC from Rs 3 million to Rs 1 million. Also, the commission approved a tariff of Rs 7.27 per kWh for Hind Samachar and Rs 7.29 per kWh for Sri Jyoti Renewable Energy, Sukhbir Agro Energy and Srinivas Snapla.
