Gujarat modifies land policy for setting up wind and solar-wind hybrid power projects

The Gujarat government has modified its land policy relating to the development of wind and solar-wind hybrid power projects in the state. According to the new policy, wind and hybrid parks will be developed in Gujarat on the same lines as solar parks. Also, it will be mandatory for the central government entities to consult Gujarat state departments before issuing tenders for wind or hybrid project capacities. Currently, the state has earmarked land in the Kutch region for the development of wind and hybrid parks. A total area that can accommodate 30,000 MW of renewable energy will be sanctioned for these parks, with each park having a capacity of minimum 1,000 MW. Of the total capacity, 10,000 MW will be set aside for projects initiated by the state public sector undertakings (PSUs) and 20,000 MW for the central PSUs.
