Google to buy power from solar farms in Tennessee, Alabama

Google plans to buy 413 MW of output from several new solar farms located in Tennessee and Alabama in the US. Two of the largest projects will be able to produce about 150 MW each in Hollywood, Alabama, and Yum Yum, Tennessee. Google is building data centres in Clarksville, Tennessee and Jackson County, Alabama. The company plans to meet 72 per cent of the facilities’ hourly electricity requirement with carbon-free sources, supporting its goal of sourcing carbon-free electricity round the clock.
