Centre allocates Rs 52.54 billion for renewable energy sector in Union Budget 2019-20

The Union Government has allocated funds worth Rs 52.54 billion to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Union Budget 2019-20. The total outlay for the central sector schemes under the budget is Rs 51.31 billion. The central government has made a provision of Rs 24.79 billion for solar energy segment, Rs 7.2 billion for wind energy segment, Rs 1.82 billion for small hydro segment and Rs 250 million for bio-energy segment for grid- connected projects. Funds worth Rs 5.25 billion, Rs 80 million and Rs 500 million for solar, small hydro and bio-energy segment have been earmarked for decentralised projects.
