MERC approves procurement of power from 1,000 MW floating solar PV power project at Ujjani Dam

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has accorded approval to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for procurement of power from 1,000 MW floating solar PV power project at Ujjani dam in Solapur district of Maharashtra on long term basis. The same has been approved for meeting the solar renewable purchase obligation (RPO) requirement of MSEDCL.

Besides, the commission has accorded approval for undertaking competitive bidding process for the project. Further, the commission has accorded no objection to the Request for Selection and PPA documents prepared by MSEDCL in absence of the standard bidding document.

Currently, MSEDCL has planned to issue 10 separate tenders of 100 MW each at 10 different locations for development of the 1,000 MW project. Also, MSEDCL is in consultation with Water Resources Department of Maharashtra for making spare lands available to the developer for the duration of the PPA period.
