TANGEDCO has decided to float tenders to add solar and wind capacity of 1,500 MW each in Tamil Nadu. It will invite three separate tenders for the development of grid-connected solar power projects of 500 MW each. The wind power projects will also be issued in three phases of 500 MW each. According to TANGEDCO’s plan, the minimum capacity of the wind projects will be at least 25 MW. Both solar and wind projects are expected to be commissioned in 12 months. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved TANGEDCO’s plan to float such tenders.
