Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has initiated the process to revive the 10 MW power plant located in Jalkheri on a renovate, operate and transfer basis. The project is likely to become operational after 27 months from the date of signing of the lease agreement. The lease agreement is likely to be signed within 45 days from the issue of the letter of award. Once operational, the project will not only consume about 80,000 million tonnes of rice straw per annum for producing electricity, but will also save the environment by preventing pollution.
