The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has prepared the Indian Wind Turbine Certification Scheme in consultation with the National Institute of Wind Energy. To get the certificate, wind turbine developers will have to comply with the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. According to the scheme, developers will have to comply with the Central Electricity Authority’s technical regulations and requirements, including various guidelines issued by the MNRE. Moreover, various best practices from other countries have also been added by the MNRE to ensure high quality of wind energy projects. Developers can also refer to the Indian Type Approved Model, the Indian Type Certification Scheme, the Wind Farm Project Certification Scheme and the Wind Turbine Safety and Performance Certification Scheme. The draft certification scheme is open for comments till December 5, 2018.
