MERC directs MSEDCL to pay dues to wind power generators in the state

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has directed Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to pay dues of Rs 41.05 billion to wind power generators in Maharashtra. The petition was filed by the Windmill Owners Welfare Association of India on behalf of its members regarding delayed payments under wind energy purchase agreements. The MERC has also directed MSEDCL to release payments within two weeks from the date of the order. MSEDCL has been directed to submit a detailed report about the outstanding payments two days after completing the formalities. A penalty of 1.25 per cent per month of the principal amount will be charged if the discom fails to deliver the mentioned payments. In a separate ruling, The MERC has directed MSEDCL to pay Rs 6,918,529 to Shah Lulla estate developers and Rs 176,019,452 to BLP Wind Project Private Limited.
