Petroleum Development Oman allocated the development of a 100 MW solar project to a consortium led by Marubeni Corporation

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), a state-owned oil producer, has allocated a 100 MW solar project to a consortium led by Marubeni Corporation, along with Oman Gas Company S.A.O.C, Bahwan Renewable Energy Company LLC and Modern Channels Services LLC. The project will be located at Amin, which is in southern Oman. The project will be developed on a turnkey basis. It is expected to provide power for PDO’s interior operations. Reportedly, it will be the world’s first utility-scale solar project to have an oil and gas company as the sole wholesale buyer of electricity. The scope of work includes the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, financing, and O&M of the solar PV plant. The developers will sign a PPA for a period of 23 years.
