Drax Group starts construction of an innovative biomass project

British electrical power generation company, the Drax Group, has started construction of a pilot project that aims to capture and store the carbon dioxide emissions released from its biomass plant. The carbon dioxide emissions will be stored underground or be compressed in containers to be used for industrial applications. The process removes more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than is released by the biomass plant. This makes it the world’s first carbon-negative power station. According to media sources, the pilot project will capture 1 tonne of carbon dioxide per day from the gases released by the plant.
