Sembcorp has commissioned a 249.9 MW wind power project in Chandragiri district, Tamil Nadu. Sembcorp developed the project in partnership with Suzlon Energy Limited, which was the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. The wind power plant consists of 119 units of Suzlon’s 2.1 MW S111-120m wind turbine generators. The electricity generated from the project will be supplied to Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Reportedly, the project will help meet the electricity demand of over 216,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by over 700,000 tonnes per annum.
