UPENEDA’s 500 MW tender oversubscribed by 250 MW

A total of seven companies have submitted the technical bids for development of the 500 MW of solar capacity tendered by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). These include Eden (EDF) (50 MW), NTPC Limited (160 MW), Maheshwari (40 MW), Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited (50 MW), Talettutayi Solar Projects (Solar Arise) (50 MW), Giriraj Renewable Private Limited (Avaada) (300 MW) and Adani (100 MW).

NTPC Limited had submitted two bids of 140 MW and 20 MW, Maheshwari submitted two bids of 20 MW each, Adani submitted two bids of 50 MW each and Giriraj Renewable submitted three bids of 100 MW each.

With this, the tender issued by UPNEDA has been oversubscribed with an aggregate capacity of 750 MW.

The capacity is part of the earlier 1,000 MW tender that had been cancelled by UPNEDA due to high tariffs. For this tender an upper tariff ceiling of Rs 3.10 per kWh had been set. According to UPNEDA, the tariff quoted in this auction will be reduced by Rs 0.15 per kWh if the developers fail to produce a receipt of payment of safeguard duty at the time of project commissioning.
