India installs 25 GW of cumulative solar capacity

India has reached a milestone of 25 GW of installed solar PV capacity, according to a report by Mercom India Research. Over the past seven months, more than 5 GW of solar capacity has been installed, which includes both utility-scale and rooftop solar. Utility-scale projects accounted for over 22.5 GW of the installed solar capacity while rooftop solar projects accounted for over 2.4 GW, as of August 2018. Reportedly, the country had reached 20 GW of solar capacity additions in January 2018, which was the original target set for 2022. This target was later increased to 100 GW.
