Bihar sets generic levellised solar PV tariff for 2018-19

The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has fixed the generic levellised tariff for electricity generated from solar photovoltaic (PV) projects for the financial year 2018-19. The tariff has been set at Rs 4.17 per kWh without accelerated depreciation, while it is Rs 3.98 per kWh with the accelerated depreciation component.

This generic levelised tariff is Re 0.01 per kWh more than the average power purchase cost (APPC) for the state’s distribution companies during financial year 2018-19. The APPC has been set as Rs 4.16 per kWh for the same period.

The tariff will be applicable for all solar projects commissioned from the date of issue of the order until March 31, 2019, or until the next order and will be valid for a period of 25 years from the commercial date of operation.

In its order, BERC has also stated that the tariff of solar PV will decrease by Re 0.033 per kWh for every 1 per cent of capital subsidy obtained from the central or state government.
