SECI cancels 2 MW wind power tender and re-issues bids for 1.2 GW of capacity

SECI has cancelled its 2 GW-ISTS connected wind power tender (Tranche V) and has re-issued bids for 1.2 GW of capacity.

Bids for the same were earlier invited on May 29, 2018 and four companies namely, ReNew Power Limited, Adani Green Energy Limited, Sprng Energy Private Limited and Alfanar Energy Private Limited had submitted bids for project implementation. However, the tender had to be cancelled as it was undersubscribed by aggregate capacity of 800 MW.  Insufficient transmission infrastructure was cited as the primary reason for the low developer interest.

However, SECI has now retendered a part capacity (1.2 GW of the 2 GW) under its fifth tranche of ISTS connected wind power projects. The projects will be developed BOO basis and the successful bidders will enter into PPAs with SECI for a period of 25 years.  The scope of work involves setting up the wind power projects as well as the transmission network up to the delivery point. The last date of bid submission is August 24, 2018.

SECI also modified the 2,500 MW of ISTS-connected wind tender under Tranche-VI for which the last date of bid submission was August 7, 2018.
