KSEB to install rooftop solar panels on buildings in Kerala

The Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEB) has announced plans to set up a minimum of about 500 MW of solar PV capacity by the year 2021 under the state’s Soura Project.

Under the project three different schemes will be offered to the consumers. In the first two schemes, KSEB will bear the expenses related to solar panel installation and maintenance. As per first scheme, consumer will get 10 per cent of the total produced electricity free of cost whereas in the second scheme consumer will get any quantity of electricity produced at a fixed rate. The third scheme involves consumers investing into the solar power systems. Such consumers would be able to use the entire energy generated at their roof tops and will be entitled to sell the generated solar power completely or partially to the KSEBL. KSEB plans to complete the installation of the panels between January 2019 and March 2021.
