USTDA provides funds for development of wind-solar hybrid project in Andhra Pradesh

The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has provided a grant to IL&FS Energy Development Company Limited (IEDCL) for the development of a 41 MW wind-solar hybrid project with energy storage in Andhra Pradesh. Black & Veatch, a U.S-based firm, has been selected by IEDCL to provide technical assistance to advance pre-implementation and pre-construction activities for the project.

Prior to this, USTDA had provided assistance to Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh in verifying their technical, financial and commercial viability for wind-solar hybrid power projects. After the successful completion of an analysis in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, IEDCL and the Andhra Pradesh government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the project.

The initiative is a part of the U.S – India Energy Cooperation Program which was launched by the USTDA, U.S private sector and the Indian government in 2010. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Indo-Pacific Business Forum hosted by the U.S Chamber of Commerce, to discuss potential areas of collaboration in the Indo-Pacific.
