Out of 25,000 solar pumping systems, 20,000 will be AC powered while 5,000 will be equipped with a DC motor. The scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of water pumping systems. In addition, the successful bidders will be responsible for providing 5 years of O&M services. The successful bidders will be issued letters of award (LoAs) and will be invited to sign tripartite agreements with the procurers, suppliers and NREDCAP.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on August 7, 2018 and bid submission deadline has been set as August 21, 2018. The technical bids will open on the same day and the financial bids will open on August 31, 2018.
Andhra Pradesh has been actively promoting solar energy use in agricultural sector through solar pumps. In January 2018, NREDCAP had issued a tender to procure and set up 5,000 solar-powered water pumps as part of the off-grid and decentralised solar applications programme. Other states have also rolled out similar tenders. Recently, the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited invited tender for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of solar pumping systems. Prior to that, the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited had issued a tender to procure and set up 1,013 solar pumps. As per the MNRE statistics, between 2017 and 2018, a total of 96,376 solar pumps were sanctioned across various states for both irrigation and drinking water purposes.
