World Bank approves funds for renewable energy expansion in Solomon Islands

The World Bank has approved funds for a $19.95 million project aimed at improving electricity access and supporting renewable energy expansion in the Solomon Islands. The project will help the government in boosting renewable energy generation and reducing the reliance on expensive, imported fossil fuels. The project will focus  on providing electricity connections to households, small businesses, and community infrastructure such as schools and health centres throughout Honiara and surrounding towns, and is expected to benefit over 9,300 rural residents.
