China ends feed-in tariffs for wind power projects

The National Energy Administration (NEA) of China has decided to discontinue feed-in tariffs and released the 2018 Wind Farm Construction and Management Rules, detailing the auctioning system for future wind power projects. Henceforth, all onshore and offshore wind farms will go through competitive bidding processes based on the cost of construction and power prices. The government has also set an upper tariff ceiling for the projects. While the increase in competition is expected to reduce wind power tariffs, the equipment costs will be passed on to the entire supply chain.
