SECI’s 2 GW wind tender undersubscribed by 800 MW

SECI’s 2 GW Tranche-V wind tender has been undersubscribed by 800 MW. SECI had rolled out this tender in May 2018.

Reportedly, bids with an aggregate of only 1,200 MW of capacity have been received against the tendered capacity of 2 GW. According to Mercom India, ReNew Power, Adani Green, Sprng Energy, and Alfanar each have submitted bids for 300 MW capacity.

The shortage of connectivity infrastructure across the country is the likely reason for drop in developer participation. In an earlier SECI 2 GW wind auction, the tender had been oversubscribed by 1.8 GW, highlighting the developer interest in setting up wind projects provided issues such as grid connectivity do not lead to delays.
