Vineyard Wind, a JV between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has been selected to develop an 800 MW offshore wind farm off Massachusetts. Simultaneously, Deepwater Wind has been selected to develop a 400 MW wind farm off Rhode Island. Final acceptance of Vineyard Wind’s bid and the award of the contract are conditional upon successful negotiation of the contract and required regulatory approval by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. Deepwater Wind will also enter negotiations with National Grid, which will submit a proposed contract to the Public Utilities Commission for regulatory review. The project will also be subject to a federal approval process before it can proceed.
