Kazakhstan government awards wind power projects worth 70 MW

The Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan has awarded over 70 MW of wind projects through the auction route. Zenchenko and K won 2 MW of capacity by bidding KZT 18,000 per MWh; Vichi won 7 MW of capacity at KZT 18,010 per MWh; Ventum Energy and EastWind Energy won 4.95 MW each at KZT 18,990 per MWh and KZT 19,990 per MWh respectively; Ivan Zenchenko won 2 MW at KZT 22,530 per MWh; and Gel Elektik won 50 MW at KZT 17,490 per MWh. The winners will sell electricity to the Settlements and Tariffs Department under a 15-year contract. The government intends to tender 620 MW of wind capacity in 2018. The next tender for wind projects was issued on May 28, 2018 and the results are awaited.
