Chandigarh administration plans to set up 50 MW solar rooftop capacity by May 2022

The Chandigarh administration has planned to set up 50 MW of solar rooftop capacity by May 2022. The administration has made the installation of rooftop solar power plants mandatory in houses, commercial and industrial units, and group housing societies measuring 418.06 square metres and above. It is providing a subsidy to residents for installing solar panels. While 7,500 such solar power units have to be installed under the plan, only 550 houses have installed them so far.
