Amazon to run its seven facilities on solar energy

Amazon India has announced plans to set up 8,000 kW of rooftop solar power systems at its fulfilment centres and sorting facilities across the country by end 2018. The company has already installed a total of 1,600 kW of solar capacity at its centres in Delhi and Hyderabad and the next expansion phase will see similar rooftop solar installations at five fulfilment centres and two sorting facilities in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai. It has also installed solar energy systems in four Amazon Care Community and Resource Centres in Haryana to provide solar power and support its community programmes. This is part of Amazon’s global vision to power about 50 fulfilment and sorting centres with solar energy by end 2020.
